2004 Cologne bombing

On 9 June 2004, a pipe bomb detonated in Cologne, Germany, in a business area popular with immigrants from Turkey. Twenty-two people were wounded, four sustained serious injuries. A barber's shop was completely destroyed, many shops and numerous parked cars were seriously damaged by the explosion and the nails added to the bomb for extra damage.〔(Kölner Stadtanzeiger article )〕 Authorities initially excluded the possibility of a terrorist attack.〔(Kölner Stadtanzeiter: ''Stochern im Nebel'', 30 July 2004 )〕
According to ''Der Spiegel'', a Neo-Nazi group calling themselves "Nationalsozialistischer Untergrund“ (National Socialist Underground) claimed responsibility in a DVD found among the ruins of a semi-detached house in Zwickau, Germany, that exploded on 4 November 2011.〔(Der Spiegel, 12 November 2011 )〕〔(Spiegel TV Magazin: „Die Braune Zelle“, 13 November 2011 )〕
The group around Uwe Böhnhardt, Uwe Mundlos, and Beate Zschäpe was also indicted with the killing of nine business men of Turkish and Greek origin between 2000 and 2006, the so-called Döner murders as well as with the murder of Michéle Kiesewetter in 2007.
